Description

A delicious twist on the classic Wellington, using savory ground beef encased in a flaky puff pastry, perfect for a special dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sautΓ© onion, garlic, and mushrooms until softened.
  3. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  5. Spread Dijon mustard over the center of the pastry.
  6. Place cooked beef mixture on top of the mustard layer.
  7. Fold pastry over the beef to encase it completely and seal edges.
  8. Brush the top with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve with a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh salad. Ensure beef mixture is cooled before wrapping to prevent pastry from becoming soggy.
