- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded Gruyere or Swiss cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sautΓ© onions until caramelized, about 10-12 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart.
- Stir in uncooked rice, beef broth, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Transfer mixture to a baking dish.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes until rice is tender.
- Remove foil, sprinkle shredded cheese over the top, and bake an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Notes
For deeper flavor, use caramelized onions from the previous day. Adjust seasonings to taste.
