Description

This easy breakfast cheese danish is flaky, creamy, and perfectly sweet, made with simple ingredients for a quick bakery-style treat at home.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 200g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unfold the puff pastry and cut into equal squares.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth.
  4. Spoon filling into the center of each pastry square.
  5. Fold or pinch corners slightly toward the center.
  6. Brush exposed pastry edges with beaten egg.
  7. Place pastries on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden and puffed.
  9. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Best served warm. You can add fruit preserves to the center for extra flavor.
