Description

This easy breakfast braid is a visually stunning and delicious pastry filled with sweet cream cheese and fruit, perfect for a morning treat or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 200g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh berries or fruit preserves
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200Β°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unfold puff pastry onto the baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Spread the cream cheese mixture down the center of the pastry.
  5. Top with berries or fruit preserves.
  6. Cut strips along both sides of the filling and braid over the filling.
  7. Brush braid with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
