This crispy city chicken recipe is golden, crunchy, and comforting, made with tender meat skewered and breaded for a classic old-fashioned dinner.

- 1 1/2 lbs pork or chicken breast, cut into chunks
- Wooden skewers
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 1/2 cups seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- Soak wooden skewers in water for 20 minutes.
- Thread meat chunks onto skewers.
- Prepare three bowls: flour, eggs whisked with milk, and breadcrumbs mixed with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge skewered meat in flour.
- Dip into egg mixture.
- Coat evenly with seasoned breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Fry skewers until golden brown on all sides.
- Reduce heat, cover, and cook for 10β12 minutes until meat is cooked through.
- Drain briefly on paper towels.
- Serve hot.
Notes
City chicken can also be baked at 190Β°C for 35β40 minutes if preferred. Serve with mashed potatoes or coleslaw.
