- 2 lbs bone-in chicken pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Hungarian paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent.
- Stir in garlic and paprika, cooking briefly until fragrant.
- Add chicken pieces, salt, and black pepper, coating well with the mixture.
- Pour in chicken broth and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Cover and cook for 35-40 minutes until chicken is tender.
- In a bowl, mix sour cream with flour until smooth.
- Stir the sour cream mixture into the skillet.
- Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve hot over noodles or dumplings.
Notes
Use authentic Hungarian paprika for the best flavor. Do not boil after adding sour cream to prevent curdling.
