Description

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs bone-in chicken pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Hungarian paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent.
  3. Stir in garlic and paprika, cooking briefly until fragrant.
  4. Add chicken pieces, salt, and black pepper, coating well with the mixture.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Cover and cook for 35-40 minutes until chicken is tender.
  7. In a bowl, mix sour cream with flour until smooth.
  8. Stir the sour cream mixture into the skillet.
  9. Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  10. Serve hot over noodles or dumplings.

Notes

Use authentic Hungarian paprika for the best flavor. Do not boil after adding sour cream to prevent curdling.
