- 4 beef cube steaks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 2 tablespoons reserved frying oil
- 2 tablespoons flour for gravy
- 1 1/2 cups milk for gravy
Instructions
- Season the cube steaks with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Place flour in one bowl and whisk eggs with milk in another bowl.
- Dredge each steak in flour, then egg mixture, then flour again.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Fry steaks until golden brown and cooked through on both sides.
- Remove steaks and set aside on a plate.
- Reserve 2 tablespoons of frying oil in the skillet.
- Whisk in flour and cook until lightly golden.
- Slowly whisk in milk and cook until thick and creamy.
- Season gravy with salt and pepper.
- Serve steaks hot, smothered with creamy gravy.
Notes
Serve with mashed potatoes or biscuits for a classic comfort meal. Adjust gravy thickness with extra milk if needed.
