Ingredients

  • 4 beef cube steaks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons reserved frying oil
  • 2 tablespoons flour for gravy
  • 1 1/2 cups milk for gravy

Instructions

  1. Season the cube steaks with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Place flour in one bowl and whisk eggs with milk in another bowl.
  3. Dredge each steak in flour, then egg mixture, then flour again.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Fry steaks until golden brown and cooked through on both sides.
  6. Remove steaks and set aside on a plate.
  7. Reserve 2 tablespoons of frying oil in the skillet.
  8. Whisk in flour and cook until lightly golden.
  9. Slowly whisk in milk and cook until thick and creamy.
  10. Season gravy with salt and pepper.
  11. Serve steaks hot, smothered with creamy gravy.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or biscuits for a classic comfort meal. Adjust gravy thickness with extra milk if needed.
