Description
An authentic, flavorful, and incredibly easy tandoori chicken recipe made with a spiced yogurt marinade—juicy, smoky, and absolutely delicious.

- 2 lbs chicken legs or thighs
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon coriander
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Red food coloring (optional)
- Lemon wedges and cilantro for serving
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, ginger, garlic, olive oil, and all spices.
- Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
- Score chicken pieces with shallow cuts.
- Coat chicken thoroughly in the marinade.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) or heat grill to medium-high.
- Arrange chicken on a baking rack or grill.
- Cook for 25–35 minutes, flipping halfway, until chicken is cooked through and slightly charred.
- Broil for 2–3 minutes for extra char if desired.
- Serve with lemon wedges and cilantro.
Notes
For the most authentic flavor, marinate overnight. Serve with naan, rice, or a fresh cucumber salad.
